When choosing between colleges, how did you decide amongst the colleges that you were accepted into?

I got accepted to most of the colleges I applied to, so deciding on which one had mostly to do with what environment best fit my personality. CSUF, compared to the other universities, seemed like a better fit for me both academically and where the school was at geographically.

What would you personally say are your school's strengths?

One of the best things about CSUF is that many of my professors genuinely care about their student's success. With the smaller classes and the many office hours they provide, they really try and help their students as much as they can so they can thrive.

How accessible are administrators, registrars, professors, teaching assistants, etc.?

From my experience, most of the workers here are very accessible. Needing help with financial aid, classes or with navigating the resources here on campus, all of the workers here have helped me a lot with any problem or questions I had.

What are the classes like? Are they more lecture-based or discussion-based? Do you often partake in group projects?

It depends on the professor, but since I started here I have had a variety of class structures. I have partaken in group projects and group discussions and have also had classes where every class is pure lectures from the professor.

What is one thing that you wished you knew before you started at your university?

I wish that high school teachers and counselors let you know how much money college really is. People always talk about how it is expensive, but I had no idea where exactly the money was going to and how exactly to get financial aid for it.

How would you describe the location of your college? (climate, weather, etc.) Would you describe it as a college town? (urban, suburban, rural) Does the location allow for activities outside of campus? (farmer's markets, concerts, etc.)

CSUF is in a perfect location for doing outside of campus activities. There are parts of the town that are heavily populated with college students, but it is not just a college town. The weather is always perfect, never too cold and never too hot. We are about twenty minutes from any of the most popular beaches in southern California and are only about forty minutes from Los Angeles.

What types of clubs are offered on campus? Are you involved in any?

I have a job so my time is spent doing homework and working, but there are many clubs with different interests that anyone can relate to.

Are you able to talk to your professors on a one-on-one basis? Are office hours available to help you with questions with course-work?

Yes, professors are easily accessible whether it be through e-mail or office hours.

If you are far away from home, do you ever feel homesick? How do you balance relationships with family and friends from home?

My school is six hours from Modesto, so I do get homesick. But, I have made so many amazing friends here that living here has started to feel like home.
