What extracurriculars would you recommend listing on your application?

Definitely list any volunteer/community service work. This activity makes you a well rounded human being. Yes you probably also did something for yourself, like played a sport or worked a job; but what can you do for the community and the cultural at the college. Definitely include any extracurricular that shows how you can contribute to the community.

Would you recommend going to a community college and then transferring to a different college? Why or why not? Is it easy to transfer schools?

Although I didn't take this route, I had a teammate (and best friend) that did. If you don't know what you want to do, or if you are stressed about paying for school, go to a community college and figure it out, then transfer. Depending on the schools its fairly easy to transfer and some colleges even have a better acceptance rate for transfer students than those straight out of high school. There are so many community colleges just in California, if it fits in your budget you can still move away to a community college, nothing says you have to go to MJC. You have options.
