How did you go through the process of choosing a roommate?

I did a random roommate selection, so I let the university pair me with roommates. I ended up having two roommates my freshmen year. They were awesome, we weren't super close friends or anything but we got along well, and respected each others space so it made living with them pretty easy and enjoyable.

What supplies do you normally use in your classes? What do you bring with you on a daily basis?

I took my tablet and keyboard with me to campus, but I hand wrote my notes for every class except 2 class in my four years at Cal. I would definitely recommend writing out your notes! Bring colored pens as well because if you have a professor that writes in color chalk, it helps to mimic their notes. Also you could use the color pens to circle or star something that you didn't understand and can later go back to that section and see what part you were having issues with.

What is the social life like on campus? Is there a large population of sororities or fraternities?

There are so many different types of sororities and fraternities. You could join a social one (this is what you think of when people say Greek life), you could join a pre-med one, or a business one, or a cultural one. You can find a fraternity or sorority that fits you. Also Greek life is different at each school, like at Cal being in Greek isn't a big deal, but it is a nice way to meet others and get involved with something. Where as other schools, like Alabama and even UCSB according to the friends I have there , if you go Greek, that is you life.
